Angela Reijenga (34) joined our summercamp of 2016 at Portugal Esposende, we asked her to tell shortly about her experience with Girlzactive:
“Several times I have seen the trips of Girlzactive passing by on Facebook and every time I thought, cool nice trips! But unfortunately i had no time to join. During the summer I was looking for a kite trip and checked the website of Girlzactive, which made me curious about the progression kite trip to Esposende, Portugal.
I asked Maroean for some information and she was very helpful when answering all my questions, it is nice to find out that at Girlzactive they do understand a lot of woman find it exiting to book a trip alone for the first time. They know what they offer and help you out with everything you need for your kitesurftrip.
De destination of this trip, Esposende, is a nice little Portugese village with a few authentic restaurants and bars. The brand new Villa we where staying in, was really spacious with a big kitchen and sunny garden. We stored our kite gear by the partner of Girlzactive; KookProof, also the kiteschool where some of us booked lessons. Maroean, Tiago and the rest of the team did everything to make this week a great week. They arrange the restaurants, guiding, coaching and trips during the week. And if the wind was not there in Esposende they drove us in big trucks to Viana do Castello, another nice kite spot. A great experience was also the day trip to the cable park!
Because I booked during a progression week, you had the possibility to book a coach package during the week. For me a good opportunity! After my first lessons and almost 2 years of kiteboarding experience, it’s good to hear and see, what you can improve. Our coach during the week took the time to explain how to improve your board position and teached me how to jump! During the coaching they took pictures and filmed us. During the evening hours they showed these, so we could see what we needed to improve.. Receiving the pictures after the camp, is a great way to create and keep the memories.
One of the best moments for me was together with Esther, another participant I met during this kitecamp. We had a sundown session together, as the last people on the water we needed to hurry up to catch the last boat back to the harbor, but I will never forget the feeling of that day… Our camp motto, never stop kiting if there is wind!
Girlzactive, thanks for a great week with kitesurfing, stand up paddling, surfing and fun!
And for those who doubt to join alone, don’t! I felt at home after a few hours already <3”
See you at the water, Angela.2
